SPAN Faculty Advisor Dana Lindaman, Ph.D., is an associate professor of French at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he teaches French and Francophone Literatures and Cultures. His work maps the literary representation of Paris parks and mythical landmarks of French identity. His second book, Becoming French, will be released shortly by Northwestern University Press. Professor Lindaman has worked in Norway, Belgium, France, and the French Congo. He has close ties to the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) with Moroccan universities.

Destination 2017: Russia
SPAN Faculty Advisor Matthew Miller, Ph.D., history professor at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, completed his Ph.D. in modern Russian and European history at the University of Minnesota. The author recently published The American YMCA and Russian Culture: The Preservation and Expansion of Orthodox Christianity, 1900-1940. He served as advisor to SPAN groups to Russia in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Professor Miller has lived, studied, and taught in Russia.
